Welcome to Prairie Winds Nature Farm! We are a working educational farm using permaculture methods to produce food for humans as well as wildlife. We offer visitor experiences and farm education in a relaxed, family-friendly environment. 85 acres of restored wetland, prairie, woods, and fenced pastures, combined with farm animals and garden spaces, offer a chance for visitors to learn where food comes from and connect with nature.
We provide fun and educational field trips and curriculum development for kids of all ages. Activities depend on the weather/season, your group’s size & ages, and your interests.
We subscribe to the tenets of No Child Left Inside as inspired by the book “Last Child in the Woods” by Richard Louvre. REAL = Respect the Earth and Life. Let’s start a movement!
SUMMER CAMPS FOR KIDS!
Our campers have the opportunity to reconnect with nature and the sources of our food on a small working farm. Day camps are divided into two groups – ages 3 to 7 and ages 8 and up. Younger children are here 9-12 M-Th; older campers stay 9-3 all 5 days a week.
